Salzburg

 

The Salzburger Land has some of the most striking scenery in Europe. With its snow-topped mountains, green meadows, lakes and waterfalls, a trip to this region of Austria is an unforgettable experience. Salzburg is famous throughout the world for being both the home of 'The Sound of Music' and Mozart's birthplace, a must-see for all musicians. For modern art lovers, a visit to the Rupertinum to see the works of Klimt, Klee and Munch (to name but a few!) is essential. Visit Hellbrunn Castle with its superb gardens and famous trick fountains or go to the top of the world - a cable car ride to the Schmittenhohe offers a stunning panoramic view over the Alps. There really is something for everyone here, from the beautiful capital city to the fascinating salt mines and the many breath taking waterfalls, gorges and subterranean ice caves.
