For your School Band and Performing Arts Tour to Australia, our staff can plan, organise and book all aspects of one of our chosen itineraries that suits your needs and requirements with the options of having music festivals and Competitions, Workshops, Clinics included into the tour, in a competitive or non-competitive environment or you can supply your own itinerary.
We use special coaches with the largest trailers available and come with competent drivers who have been trained in handling and caring for equipment and instruments.
A comprehensive service is offered including Airfares, Hotel and Hostel bookings, matching of schools for twining arrangements and homestays where possible.
When to travel: Late August
Perform with groups of comparable ability among Brisbane bands in a non-competitive environment. All music is own choice – a balanced program of different styles is encouraged. It is recommended that one piece be an Australian composition. Big Bands must include a swing and a ballad arrangement.
Award system of gold, silver and bronze. Every group receives an award based on achievement. Receive a written performance assessment as well as a direct to disc CD recording with voice over commentary. Every ensemble receives a Festival plaque and participation certificate for each member of the ensemble.
Sections are as follows:-
- Primary and Secondary concert band.
- Primary and secondary orchestra and string ensembles.
- Primary and secondary big band and jazz ensembles.
When to travel: Late October
The Wangaratta Festival of Jazz is an annual festival of Jazz and blues held in the town of Wangaratta 2.5 hours from Melbourne in North East Victoria. It has become the premier Jazz event in Australia and is renowned internationally.
Since inception in 1990, the festival has grown to include 90 events and over 350 national and international artists performing each year. The Wangaratta Festival of Jazz also hosts the National Jazz Awards, Youth Jazz Workshops, Masterclasses and events throughout Wangaratta and surrounding wine regions. In 1999 the festival won a National Tourism Award and was inducted into the Victorian Tourism Hall of Fame.
